The seat of this bench is woven by hand in Danish cord. It's slow, exacting work. Every pass is wrapped and pulled tight to keep the pattern square and even across the whole seat.
The legs are rift sawn ash, chosen for strength and for the straight grain that rift sawing shows on every face of a leg. Frame joints are mortise and tenon. The two bottom stretchers are locked in with tenons wedged with contrasting sapele wood. The bench is finished in linseed oil and wax, a natural finish that keeps the ash light and soft to the touch.
